“I love you” (Because We Can Series part 2)

Dear readers,

It has been a few amazing days. God is good, that is all I can say.

Saturday October 15th was the day of the “A21 campaign”. In my previous blog I wrote about the Walk For Freedom campaign and what it means to the people who have been trafficked.

I can tell you now, we have made an impact around the world through television, social media, newspapers and our local community and most of all to the people who are trapped and the ones who are saved from this darkness.

The injustice and poorness in the world is not only from our time. Reading through the bible, you can find more stories about injustice or people who are in need. For example the story of Boaz and Ruth you might think “what are you talking about, isn’t a love story?”. That was my first reaction too.  I am telling you, the lord can reveal many different things though the scriptures in the bible. Don’t hold on to that one thing that has been revealed to you that other time, plus God will always reveal more to you through the same story, scripture or verse. Read the book of Ruth. Boaz helped his relative Naomi and her daughter in law, Ruth who were very poor.

“When you are harvesting your crops and forget to bring in a bundle of grain from your field, don’t go back to get it. Leave it for the foreigners, orphans, and widows. Then the LORD your God will bless you in all you do.  Deuteronomy 24:19

…And Ruth the Moabite said to Naomi, “Let me go to the fields and pick up the leftover grain behind anyone in whose eyes I find favor.” Naomi said to her, “Go ahead, my daughter.”  Ruth 2:2

Boaz was aware of the plight of Naomi and Ruth. He had the opportunity to help Naomi and Ruth, he responded by taking definite steps to provide for Naomi and Ruth and he protected Ruth from other workers.

So coming back to the Walk for Freedom, this walk has not only impacted the human tracking victims but also on the one who are oppressed and are in need.

The walk in Amsterdam went very smooth and a lot of people didn’t know about this, some were  even saying “does this happen in my city?”. Truly most of them were in shock.

In the same way we must first be aware of the injustice that surrounds us. This requires that we actively educate ourselves regarding issues of injustice. Scripture does not allow for ignorance as an excuse for not responding to injustice! This  includes all kinds of oppressed people including victims of human trafficking.

The Lord is a stronghold for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9:9

This walk was to let them know that they are loved,

  • that they are worth fighting for,
  • that they are not forgotten,
  • that there are people praying for them,
  • that they are precious,
  • that they are priceless,
  • that they are not for sale,
  • that they are worth more than rubies and gold,
  • that God will defend them
  • that the ones who are still in captive will be delivered in Jesus name.

All with the help of so many people who were willing to stand up and say “we have enough of this” “stop human trafficking” “we don’t close our eyes for the suffering around us”.

When faced with the opportunity to help Naomi and Ruth, Boaz responded promptly with definite actions that allowed him to be of tremendous help to them

As we seek to model Boaz, the end result of our actions will be to offer protection to the oppressed we encounter. This is especially critical for victims of human trafficking who may require significant protection from their trafficker

I was glad I participated in this walk, but most of all I was very thankful of my sponsors. So willing to help this organization through their financial gifts, so that these victims have the proper care and protection they need.

    • Thank you Tasha and yes, I am praying too. The day of no pain and suffering will come but in the meantime let us do our part on earth, that is love each other. ❤️🙌🏽
