“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. John 15:5
I have been writing about waiting on God and what that means to me. One thing that I have learned during my sabbatical journey is that I have to depend on the Lord always. Before I knew my husband, I was always the independent woman and also I was not a person who would ask anything from anybody. Not my family, not my friends, I would do it all on my own. I would always say I was born on earth alone so why should I ask anything from anybody.
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
Proverbs 16:9 NIV
That is exactly what happened with us. We were so excited, we had plans, but God had something else planned for us. I have been silent for a few months now. I’ve not been posting anything on WordPress. I have been listening to God just in silence.
Let me tell you about my experience in Malaysia starting with Kuala Lumpur short version KL. First of! The flight was horrible, this time we got sprayed in the airplane instead of the eye lacer treatment like in Hong Kong. Kuala Lumpur International airport is located in Sepang. The airport hotel in Sepang, where my husband and I stayed in for our first night, was worse than our flight and not to mention the airport shuttle…. Rollercoaster! In the end we made it to our hotel…. There was evening, and there was morning—the second day.
Today my blogpost will be about something very dear to my heart. Something that gives me the chills when talking about it and want me to use my all-time gift from God and that is my voice for the one whose voice have been robbed from them. I am talking about Human trafficking.
I turn around and look at my environment and think by myself I am so blessed. God has truly blessed me with my husband, food, a roof above my head, a shower, a job, you name it! All of this makes me want to do so much more for others. I do this with a group of church members.
Street Team Amsterdam
I am involved in the Social Justice Team. Every other Saturday I am helping elderly and disabled people in Amsterdam. In the beginning when we started they we’re afraid to open up the door and I don’t blame them with all this violence these days. Now they are eagerly waiting for us to come and want to talk to us.
